We formalized in 2008, but our story started 5 years earlier...
After observations from partnerships with community projects, the idea surfaced to create a one-stop-creative-resource with the goal to provide opportunities for adults to continue to learn something new, or refresh on favorite activities, and for their children to start building those memories in this exploratory learning way. The direction to follow was to produce a think-tank composed of creative professionals to develop, present, and maintain engaging programs. |
Open Art has served art centers, school districts, small businesses, non-profit organizations, cultural initiatives, libraries, clubs, churches, outreach, festivals, and many events. We have been able to provide affordable programs to the community in a variety of areas of creativity such as: storytelling, writing, music, design, textiles, woodworking, theater, fine arts, and more. |
We are interested in promoting cultural awareness and creative expression and we fulfill this by developing and managing the educational division for businesses and organizations. We have become a resource for non-profits to meet funding, grant requirements, and educational criteria. We provide the flexibility for long or short- term contracts. Open Art has been able to create placement and referrals for artists, teachers, and experts. |
Open Art provides individualized program development, volunteer training, and project coordination. In terms of our own volunteers and interns, we attract diverse age groups who are innovators by nature and share their expertise skills and activities. We also partner with non-profits to fulfill middle school, high school, and college student community service requirements, observation hours, and professional training. We have been dedicated to creating and maintaining remarkable programs for the community. Our programs in environmental arts emphasize the use of recycled material. We facilitate workshops that encourage resourcefulness and reuse of discarded and everyday objects. We participate in earth day events and partner with green clubs and organizations. We created a program for collecting, salvaging, and relocating unused items that otherwise would be destined for the landfill. |
Our special needs programs provide opportunities for self-growth and enhance abilities. We have been providing workshops to students ranging from age 3 to 78 with physical challenges, mental challenges, autism, and/or emotional disorders and we actively participate at Access-ability festivals. We have also accessed their tutors by providing enrichment programs to parents and teachers of students with special needs. Our Artreach program services self-enclosed units at schools and centers. |
