What is all the fuss about Styrofoam?
Then I started thinking about how many years I have been doing projects to re-purpose foam. I remember my dad built us a foam cutting machine when we were kids and we made all sorts of decorations for Christmas and Birthdays. I also used it in college on an impromptu sign I made for our Psychology club, which won us first place for booth decor, ahem, ahem, I don't want to brag but we even beat the Architecture club and their complex wooden structure. Mine was very light and portable. I used discarded posters and pieces of foam from packaging that I found at my work-study office.
I have created a category called FOAM HOME for all sorts of ideas for reusing this thing we keep calling Styrofoam and is known in Spanish as corcho blanco or unicel -- which are great search words just in case you want to expand your images, projects, and ideas.
The full moon for May is named Flower Moon and it is also called Mother's Moon. This goes perfect with my theme for tonight's blog post: a Flower for Mother's day. I received 3 gifts from my son. One of them plugs into an outlet. The other has a USB connection. The third one is a real bling bling. It blings. Really. ---It is a crystal heart pendant made out of clear tape and can be battery operated. I will post about it later because I need to replicate it and record the process.---
Green Mean Flower Powercardboard, wires, plastic food container, and a lot of imagination clear acrylic chess pieces, wires, cardboard, and creativity This blue beauty is so thoughtful and sentimental. It is easy to see the mother and son figurines, but it represents even more, it is based on a conversation we had about power struggles and pushing buttons that I compared to a game of chess. I said: "if you make a move, I have to make a move, just doing my mom job". H a p p y M o t h e r ' s D a y.
April's full moon, also known as the Pink Moon and Sprouting Grass Moon, brings a jolt of vibrancy to a special night when by chance it is also a blood moon. It almost sounds as if pink is referring to the reddish color we see of this unique occasional splendor, but the nickname "Pink" is inspired by the moss pink flora, some of the first flowers of spring. The name is pink the moon is not. --This particular moon period inspires gardeners to make the best of their horticulture tasks.-- There is color in the sky and there is color on the ground. April is full of color. I am surrounded by bluebonnets, red poppies, and bright yellow wildflower fields. This is the perfect moment to recount a description of my favorite flower's function: When the trees died in my neighborhood everyone started chopping them down. I planted Morning Glories around mine. Now there is a thick braid and different colors and stars to see every glorious morning. My Morning Glories can handle the climate and even these magnificent mollusks in my front yard. Sometimes only the dark purple ones open, I don't know why... ... and when the blue ones open the violet & purple flowers close. It flickers a different color every day! White Bloom Day Blooming Blues This is my favorite blossom because blue is rare in nature. White with Blue Blue with White White and Blue and heart shaped leaves Cascading and Flowing Braiding Up & Weaving Down It was a dead tree..
now this is a favorite bird nook, a thick green weave, and a collection of intense colors, stripes, and stars. |
